My name is Joe Diehl. The first 26 years of my life I lived all over the United States and in Europe and Asia--first as an army brat, then as an Army Medical Service Corps officer, and finally as a civilian. During those years I experienced many beautiful places and interesting people. However, my "camera" back then was only my eye and my mind. When I finally settled down in northern Michigan in the mid 90's I decided to capture the beauty around me in a more permanent format.
This eclectic collection of photographs is a sampling of some of what I love and wake for each day. To borrow from my hero, Forrest Gump: to me, photography is truly like "a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." The flavors change with each day and with each season so visit often.
